I loved doing hipotherapy, but I think the most rewarding part was the orphanage. We didn’t get to spend much time there, but the time we did sure impacted my life a lot. I think that people in the United States take things for granted.
I can’t remember specific names, but the boy that was taped up because he hit himself a lot. I got to spend some time with him, and the reaction from him and how calm he was with just playing bubbles with him was just amazing. The little giggles and smiles just melted my heart.
The other child that touched my heart was a little girl that was in the infant room in the back crib. I took her out of the crib, and she pulled a chair up for me right next to her and forced me to just sit with her. We also turned on some CDs and got to dance. 🙂
I give a lot of credit to those workers there for the amount of work that they have to put in. I got to enjoy the fun things, but without the care that they do, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy those moments.
